Mandalay mangoes

Our region is famous for bananas and mangoes. Some mango trees of 100 years are still bearing fruit. The seeds from the old mangoes are highly prized to plant. People don’t want any mango tree, they want one from here, and often Sein Ta Lone, our local variety.

Mango trees are said to live for 300 years. Who knows if some of the first mangoes originated from here? It is believed that present day Myanmar is the centre of mango origins dating back 5,000 years.
A member of the cashew family, mango is an incredible fruit with so many health benefits. It contains Vitamin A, B6, potassium, fibre, and antioxidants.
People sell mango seedlings and products here, alongside the highway road between Yangon and Mandalay.
Mandalay is rich in history and culture with many white-painted and golden pagodas. The monasteries are made from wood. Farming villages are scattered across the landscape with around 1,000 homesteads per village. The area is always lush green. The farmers homes are made from bamboo, with some of concrete and bricks, especially along the road The land here is perfect for agriculture, flat and easy for planting. Village people grow tamarind, mango, banana, rice, mung beans, and sesame seeds.
Mango season is from the end of April to the end of May. Our production capacity is 400 tons in 30 days.

Mango varieties

All children in this land grow up with mango trees. Its broad, green, glossy leaves offer lovely shade on hot days. When the waxy white flowers bloom, the trees are alive with bees and insects to pollinate them, with the promise of yellow fruit within six months from May to July. Mangoes in this golden ancient land are native to the Indo-Burma region.
Our nation is blessed with more than 200 mango varieties. Friendships and memories often start with this truly delightful fruit, peeling away the skin with years of skill without the dripping, sticky, sweet juice.
It is full of glorious flavours of a juicy sweet peach and nectarines. Some even resemble pawpaw and banana.
Our mangoes are all sweet. We know that everyone is super fussy when it comes to varieties. Our Myanmar mango is so beautiful with our #1 mango, hands down, Sein Ta Lone.

Mango tree nursery

Mangoes are the second most valuable tropical fruit in the world, after bananas. Yet globally only a few varieties are well known. We have the incredible Sein Ta Lone mango in Myanmar, and I want to promote it in the market.
I am collecting good Sein Ta Lone seeds with strong genetics. This takes careful precision and understanding as the mango seeds can either be polyembryonic (clones of their parents) or monoembryonic (no resemblance to the parent tree).
I have identified a perfect location to build a proper nursery. I aim to ensure that regeneration of the wonderful characteristics of the Sein Ta Lone are preserved. Growing mangoes takes lots of care, including getting the shape right between the second and fifth year.
We preserve the ongoing production of our farm, and our plants are well mulched, watered, and weeded. We mostly grow Sein Ta Lone for its taste, and our growth. We have full confidence that customers around the world will make it their full time favourite and when this happens, we will be ready.
